The extraordinary talent and spirit of innovation of great French painter Manet reach Milan on a one-of-a-kind exhibition set on the beautiful backdrop of Palazzo Reale. Manet and the Modern Painting features a selection of over one hundred works, including 55 paintings both by Manet and by some of the major artists of his times including Boldini, Cézanne, Degas, Fantin-Latour, Gauguin, Monet, Berthe Morisot, Renoir, Signac and Tissot, divided into two sections and 10 themed clusters. The exhibition also boasts over 10 drawings and watercolours by the French maestro and a selection of maquettes and sculptures by the other artists.
Throughout this stunning exhibition, visitors have the unique chance of understanding and appreciating the innovations carried out by the great painter, who was one of the first artists able to combine the magnificence of classical art together with the freedom of modern art.
The works on display come from important loans from Parisian Musée d’Orsay. A catalogue of the exhibition issued by Skirà is available at Palazzo Reale’s bookstore.
