MUDEC – Museo delle Culture

The new museum (opening scheduled for March 2015) is located inside an old industrial building that was formerly part of the Ansaldo complex, a factory that used to produce locomotives, railway cars and tram carriages.
The building has been renovated by British architect David Chipperfiel, who chose to use for this three-level building materials such as white opaque glass, zinc and titanium.
Mudec – Museo delle Culture is a multi-disciplinary hub dedicated to cultures of the world, featuring different spaces that offer visitors a multiplicity of cultural proposals and services, spread out over 17,000 sq.m.: rooms hosting the museum’s collection and temporary exhibitions, an auditorium, a bistrot, a design store, a cafeteria, a concept store, a restaurant, a library, workshops, a junior space, Academy24 and a car park.
Permanent exhibition: 8,000 artisan objects from different centuries and different non European countries (America, Africa, Asia), ranging from jewellery to weapons and also pottery.
