The Duomo is truly a grand structure and should not be missed on your Milan adventure. The square is so grand and leads you to every which way in the city. If you are ever lost in Milan, a good place to regroup is outside of the Duomo.
To the left of the Duomo is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This path truly embodies Milan, molding grand architecture and impeccable consumer goods. Around the inlayed marble tile and hand painted molding, lies some of the most luxurious Italian brands. Prada, Versace, and Gucci just to name a few.
At the end of the Galleria is Piazza della Scala. It is a beautiful square to rest in after a magical walk through the Galleria. Across the square is the Teatro della Scala, one of the leading opera and ballet theaters in the world. I saw pianist Maurizio Pollini‘s performance and it was an unforgettable experience. Pollini is known as one of the greatest pianists in the world and for his emotional compositions. I sat in a box seat where I got a great view of the opera house, and I could appreciate all the grand details. Pollini received a standing ovation; it was a beautiful moment (in the main picture: Pollini bowing in front of the audience). I definitely recommend taking a trip to La Scala during your stay in Milan. If you chose to see an opera or ballet make sure your seats have a good view of the act. Or just take a trip to the theater to take in the impeccable architecture sans performance. Official website: www.teatroallascala.org
