About Acetaie Aperte
Following an annual appointment with taste, the balsamic vinegar of Modena becomes the protagonist of the Acetaie Aperte event. Dozens of acetaie (the Italian word for vinegar cellars) open their doors to the wider public to spread the culture of the so-called ‘Modenese black gold’ with vinegar tastings and talks. Guests to the event can taste the different types of Modena vinegar, learn the secrets of its making, become familiar with the ingredients and the different techniques, as well a compare and contrast products coming from the different acetaie, paired with traditional food samples.
The event is powered by Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico di Modena, the consortium that guarantees the quality of balsamic vinegar produced in Modena and featured products with the Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP e Aceto Balsamico Tradizione di Modena DOP labels. Among the participating acetaie, guesta can find also the acetaia of Buckingham Palace.
Not only tastings! The Acetaie Aperte also involves various side events. For instance, guests can take advantage of special mixology initiatives where expert bartenders and mixologists create special Modena vinegar-based cocktails which can be sipped while savouring delicacies by Modenese chefs. Show cookings are also held.
