About the performance
LaVerdi inaugurates its Symphonic Season with a great opening concert in the Milanese temple of music – Teatro alla Scala. As a newly-established tradition, for the second consecutive year, the Symphonic Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi is conducted by the great maestro Claus Peter Flor. The programme includes pieces by some of the most loved artists such as Mozart’s Concert for Piano and Orchestra no.27 in B-flat, performed by the Scottish pianist Steven Osborne – one of the most-internationally acclaimed performers – and Mahler’s Symphony no. 5 in C-sharp.
The performed masterpieces
The first part of the concert features an intense performance of Mozart’s concert no. 27, the last masterpiece composed by the maestro in 1791, while the second part of the show features Mahler’s Fifth Symphony as the protagonist. Composed between 1901 and 1902, the Fifth Symphony has been inspired by Mozart’s musical production and is a tribute to the German Symphonic tradition.
