About the exhibition
Incouraging an artistic dialogue between ancient and contemporary art is increasingly becoming one of the main aims of Poldi Pezzoli House Museum. Based on this philosophy, the museum has invited the young British artist Anj Smith to interact with works that are already part of the museum’s permanent collection. For this reason, the exhibition develops between the Collector’s Hall and the museum’s historical halls and features three paintings that were created for this very occasion, as well as three engravings, and the artist’s personal interpretation of three dishes, a vase an a trumeau born from the collaboration with ceramic brand Fornasetti. Stylistic elements that are currently part of the art of painting, of landscape and still life can be seen in each work by the artist, which are displayed – for the first time ever – in the space of Museo Poldi Pezzoli.
