About the exhibition
As part of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, the Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci welcomes the first exhibition dedicated to the work of Dutch artist Theo Jensen. The exhibition Dream Beasts features a selection of giant installations known as Strandbeest (literally beach animals) which despite their first appearance as bones of prehistorical animals and insects, are large-size sculptures of animals crafted with the use of post-industrial materials such as flexible plastic tubes, nylon threads and adhesive plasters. Often described by international critics as a ‘modern Leonardo da Vinci’, Theo Jensen loves conjuring up scientific knowledge and experimentation on kinetics, mechanics and a tribute to nature and beauty.
