About the Exhibition

The photo exhibition “Inge Morath. Life, photography” becomes the protagonist of Milan’s Museo Diocesano. The 150 original images and documents featured in the display reconstruct the human and professional story of the Austrian photographer, the first woman to join the Magnum Photos agency.

Into more details

Starting from her early years as a apprentice to Ernst Haas and Henri Cartier-Bresson to her most important shots for prestigious magazines such as Picture Post, LIFE, Paris Match, Saturday Evening Post and Vogue the exhibition retraces the personal and professional evolution of Inge Morath. Particular attention is given to travel reportages starting from the one shot in Venice in 1953 and focusing on the less known, secluded areas of the city of the Lagoon up to the photographic works carried out in Spain and France in the following years. The artist’s personal style and vision emerges from each shot, featuring close ups on people and daily life scenes, combined with the photographic tradition dear to the Magnum agency.
