About the exhibition
The spaces of the Navate of Pirelli Hangar Bicocca pay tribute to the Indian contemporary artist Sheela Gowda with the first monographic exhibition in Italy. The exhibition “Remains” gathers all the works created by the Bhadravati-born artist from 1996 up to our days and include watercolour works, prints and site-specific installations that are tightly connected to local traditional craftsmanship and to the world of work in India.
Into more details
From the drawings to the sculptures, up to the large-size installations, all the works by Sheela Gowda are created by using daily use materials and organic products that reflect the context they come from. The pieces are characterised by a strong sculptural value that conjures up modern elements and strong ritualistic details.
