About the exhibition
The exhibition spaces of Palazzo Morando | Costume, Moda, Immagine pay tribute to actress Rosanna Schiaffino, one of the style icons of the Italian cinema of the 1960s, with a new exhibition project focusing on gowns from her vast closet. The collection of over 40 haute couture and prêt-à-porter pieces has recently become part of the museum’s permanent collection and testify the evolution of the history of fashion, as well as the style used by the star to appear in from of the public, the Milanese society of the 1980s and 1990s, and in her private life.
What’s on display
Precious gowns, fabrics and embroideries are the protagonists of the exhibition and are displayed alongside with scene and behind the scenes shots, as well as pictures taken from Rosanna’s personal albums that help recreate the multi-faceted personality of the actress. Among the featured gowns, visitors can admire beautiful smokings and kaftans from Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, as well as haute couture pieces by Valentino and Gianfranco Ferrè and prêt-à-porter by some of the most important Italian designers of her time.
