Please note that the official dates for the Fuorisalone 2020 have been switched from 21 – 26 April to 16 – 21 June.
What is the Fuorisalone?
From many decades now, one cannot separate the Salone del Mobile. Milano from the series of side events that take place in the same period in some of the not-to-be-missed destinations of the city: the Fuorisalone. The Fuorisalone and the Salone del Mobile Week have united to define Milan Design Week, one of the world’s most important design events. As is customary every year, together with the official event held at Rho Fiera, the Fuorisalone energizes the city and its outskirts with a series of fringe events divided into areas described as ‘districts’.
For a week, Milan abounds with themed events, presentations, concerts, DJ sets and special projects related to the world of design, furniture and innovations in living solutions.
The ‘Salone del Mobile’ and ‘Fuorisalone’ define Milan’s Design Week, premiering the latest trends for the forthcoming year and heralding a tidal wave of events, exhibitions and presentations. During the Fuorisalone, many locations usually feature longer opening hours. Moreover, during Milan Design Week many important brands located in the design districts introduce their new collections and host special events with live music and entertainment for a totally unmissable extravaganza.
Although the events are usually scattered throughout the city, the Fuorisalone recognises a series of main districts, usually distinguished by the endorsement of Milan’s Municipality.

Ventura Future 2020
For the second consecutive year, BASE MILANO serves as the backdrop to the innovations and site-specific projects powered by Ventura Future. The Ventura Future projects are divided into 5 exhibition formats: Ventura Collection (emerging designers), Ventura Expose (promising individual designers and design studios), Ventura Rooms (hotel rooms at casa BASE), Ventura Academies (prominent academies) and Ventura Brands (established creative brands and country presentations). Particular attention is given to sustainability, material research and bio-innovation. This year the lounge of BASE is transformed into an off/lab, a decompression space conceived by Stella Orsini. The installation is based on the idea of “Disconnecting in order to reconnect” and is made up of ‘beds’ dotted around the space, with lights and sounds designed to conjure up -in 20 minutes -an experience of insulation against the input overload of Design Week. The project is enhanced by a multi-sensory kit featuring eye masks and headphones to provide an original soundtrack that recalls the idea of white noise. Art also takes centre stage at Ventura Future 2020 thanks to the participation of the best schools and emerging designers from all over the world. Moreover, the programme also involves music as PØGO production takes visitors on a musical tour of the world, with global sounds sourced from the streets of Milan.
Tickets: 5 euro (allowing access to BASE and Ventura Future). Tickets can be purchased online on MailTicket
