About the exhibition

Get a close-up view of the characteristic spires of Milan’s Duomo, and enjoy an unrivalled panoramic view of the city, from the centre’s most historic landmarks to the skyline of the ‘new’ Milan. On reaching the rooftop Terraces of the Duomo, you’ll discover that “vision of ravishing beauty” which thrilled Stendhal when admiring Milan from the cathedral’s rooftop maize of spires and statues silhouetted against the sky

Every Thursday until 28 July, in the season when the colours of the sunset enchant the Candoglia marble, visitors to the Duomo can enjoy the opportunity of climbing up to the Terraces by lift until 10 pm. In addition, from around 8.30 pm live musical accompaniment will guide the steps of all those present between the high spires of the Cathedral at sunset.

More about the Duomo’s Terraces

>> they span a surface area of 800 sq.m.
>> they’re the largest ‘walkable’ terraces of a Gothic cathedral.
>> they’re located at a height of 65-70 metres.
>> you can access the terraces on foot by climbing 251 steps (first level).
>> you can get a close-up view of the famous golden statue of the Madonnina. The statue measures 4.16 metres in height and is perched atop the cathedral’s highest spire, which is 108.5 metres from the ground.
