Musical traditions with a contemporary twist

As is the custom each year, the contemporary music fest Aperitivo in Concerto organized at Milan’s Teatro Manzoni proposes one-of-a-kind performances on the creative international music scene. On 16 February at 11am during the Aperitivo in Conerto, bass player and leader of Abraxas, Shanir Blumenkranz, will enthrall audiences with a series of compositions by John Zorn from the second Book of Angels. Drawing inspiration from its Jewish roots, Abraxas went on to build a bridge between Europe and the Slav and Arab-Islamic worlds. A reconstruction of the drama of the voices of the Prophets in the dessert expressed by two authentic and spectacular guitar virtuosos, Israeli super-star Eyal Maoz and his Armenian-American counterpart Aram Bajakian.
