Weekly Grocery Market at Cascina Cuccagna

by Giulia Minero

For those in search of high-quality getaway to buy the best of grocery, cheese, bakery products, oil and wines of controlled origins, Cascina Cuccagna has a lot to offer. Set just outside the city centre, this gourmet venue is located in a historical Seventeenth century farmstead, now requalified in order to offer to Milanese and tourists the perfect spot to buy natural products from local origins, easy to taste both at the Cascina Cuccagna Restaurant or at its weekly market. Born from the collaboration between the Associazione Consorzio Cantiere Cuccagna, Ciboprossimo association and Milan’s Area 4 Advisory, the market boasts a double weekly meeting on Tuesday and Friday afternoon from 3.30pm to 8pm, where customers and gourmands can enjoy a straight-from-the-farmer shopping experience, having the chance to purchase organic products coming from controlled farms. Fruit, vegetables, cheese made both from cow’s, buffalo’s and goat’s milk, eggs, meat, preserves, honey, rice, organic oil, traditional pizza, bread and focaccia are just some of the delicacies on sale, allowing customers to bring back on their tables the very best of local food at market prices. Moreover, Cascina Cuccagna also organises entertaining events, dinners and Christmas markets which make it, once again, truly worth a visit.
