Cappellini is synonymous with contemporary avant-garde design and a springboard for the greatest international designers. The Italian company produces innovative, top-quality pieces of furniture, continually experimenting with new ways of inhabiting the entire domestic environment – from the living room to the study to the bedroom – but also lounges, hotels and restaurants. Many of Cappellini’s products have become icons recognised all over the world, even exhibited in important museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Moma in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
An emblematic figure on the international design scene is Giulio Cappellini, art director, designer and talent scout for young designers who have gone on to become famous, including Jasper Morrison, Marc Newson, Nendo, the Bouroullec brothers and Marcel Wanders. Cappellini is present all over the world with flagship stores in Milan, London, Manila and Ho Chi Minh City.
THE SHOWROOM STYLE
In line with the path of monochromatic interiors – blue in Los Angeles, red in New York, purple in Paris – the predominant colour in the Milanese flagship store is yellow. Yellow, a colour linked to the city in memory, from the famous trams to old taxis, from saffron risotto to historic buildings, and a shade that has always been present in the Cappellini colour palette. The interiors are also designed with an essential, contemporary style in perfect dialogue with the world of the designers.
TOWARDS THE MILANO DESIGN WEEK
The Cappellini design brand once again this year confirms its line of furnishing proposals that start from an experimental approach but increasingly embrace the theme of sustainability. A green interpretation that enhances the value of ancient crafts, the search for ethical materials and the design of long-lasting objects.
In preparation for the great event of Milano Design Week 2022, Cappellini presented three projects and three authors for its green philosophy: the Miya coffee tables by Elena Salmistraro, the Elan 23 sofa by Jasper Morrison and the Juli-Re Plastic armchair by Werner Aisslinger.
CAPPELLINI AT IBM STUDIOS MILANO
The entire Cappellini 2022 collection will be unveiled in June with a double installation at the IBM Pavilion in Piazza Gae Aulenti: “Looking to the future” through the thoughts of international creatives and “Cappellini Slowdown Refuge”, which will include the concept of the home of the future through a harmonious dialogue between design and technology.
